FIFA 22: EA Sports says Hypermotion Technology will increase specs for PC, however, Ubisoft says consoles cannot keep up with Ray Tracing

FIFA 22 has been officially announced and will hit stores worldwide on 1st October. You can also pre-order it or buy EA Play to get early access to the game. EA Sports has brought Hypermotion technology to FIFA 22 to give it a fluid feel.

The major change coming to the game is Hypermotion technology. The groundbreaking new HyperMotion gameplay technology elevates every match across every mode in FIFA 22, but only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and Stadia.

Unfortunately, the PC version will not have the new technology as it is only coming to the console and Stadia releases. Surprisingly, EA Sports has given an absurd reason for omitting Hypermotion technology for FIFA 22 PC players.

EA said: “Bringing HyperMotion technology and Immersive Match Day features to PC would have raised the minimum spec requirements and resulted in a large proportion of players unable to run the game. This would have significantly impacted our PC community who enjoy FIFA each year, with many players being excluded or forced to upgrade their machines to play the game. We are looking forward to all our PC players experiencing the gameplay advances and new season of innovation on offer in FIFA 22.”

However, it has now come to light that the new-gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S are less capable than the higher-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs or Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs to handle gaming graphics. WCCFTech recently interviewed the lead programmer for Far Cry 6, discussing some of the graphical upgrades we’ll see when the game launches on 7th October.

The next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X won’t get ray-tracing effects—or FidelityFX Super Resolution and CAS. This is simply because consoles aren’t as powerful as PCs with the best graphics cards, and the visual improvements offered by ray tracing, in particular, aren’t worth the loss in performance.

So, EA Sports’ decision to include Hypermotion technology only for next-gen consoles is a bit harsh for the PC players using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs or Radeon RX 6000 series GPU. I, personally, use NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060ti but am not getting the new Hypermotion technology feature in FIFA 22 which is quite surprising.

If EA Sports really thought that including Hypermotion technology in PC versions would increase the minimum specs requirement, they could have given the PC players an option to choose between an Hypermotion technology enabled game for those using high-end graphics cards and a basic game for those not having NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs or Radeon RX 6000 series GPU.

Another possibility is that EA might have some collaboration with console makers to make them exclusive; however, this is what it is, and this might be the reason why it is cheaper on PC.

FIFA 22 is now up for Pre Order. There are two versions, Ultimate and Standard edition. The Ultimate edition comes for Rs 4,299 while the Standard edition is priced at Rs 2,999. If you already own the previous version of FIFA, you can get a 10% discount on FIFA 22.
