Ferran Torres is Barcelona’s number one priority for the January transfer window. Xavi Hernandez wants to sign an offensive player next month to help solve the team’s goalscoring problems.
What is Ferran Torres’ stance?
The player is not opposed to a move back to Spain. He is open to discussing his salary with Barcelona and joining the club. He dreamed of playing for them and his situation is not going to be a problem.
Torres is currently out injured and has not been on the pitch regularly for City recently. Hence, rumours surrounding a move for him have intensified over the last few months.
Manchester City is the only problem that Barcelona need to overcome to get their man. The Premier League champions want €60 million Euros for Torres. Barcelona, on the other hand, are only prepared to offer them €50 million.
Despite their financial difficulties, the details of the deal will be important, such as the number of years over which the amount will be paid. Without reaching an agreement with Manchester City soon, Barcelona will not be able to recruit Ferran Torres.
Barcelona’s plan B
In case Barcelona are unable to successfully recruit Ferran Torres, Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech is being rumoured as the second option. The Moroccan is a very creative winger and could add to the team that Xavi is trying to build.
The problem here again, is whether or not Chelsea are open to selling him. They didn’t listen to offers this summer, and it seems like the stance hasn’t changed yet.
