FC Barcelona transfer news: Free agent signings are likely the way to go for Barcelona this summer owing to their financial restrictions. The club will have to cut down on their expenses while bolstering the squad, leaving free transfers as the only option. 

Here are five players that Xavi Hernandez could be given to boost the squad’s performances next season.

### 5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The striker has practically been frozen out of the first team this season, and is expected to leave in the summer. The Manchester City midfielder has a decision to make ahead of June. He has been given the option to renew by City, but Barcelona have also approached him. It now remains to be seen whether the Germany international will make the move to Camp Nou this summer.

A left-footed centre-back is high on the priority list for Xavi, and Inigo Martinez has practically agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer. But, the move remains subject to financial fair play rules which need to be abided by in order for him to be registered.
