FC Barcelona becomes the most engaging sports brand in the world on the top three social networks

The Spanish giant has generated nearly 1.4 billion likes, comments, shares, and retweets across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter during the 2019/20 season for the third consecutive time

FC Barcelona has again made a record but this time on social networks including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The Catalan giants have been the most engaging sports brand in the world with 1.37 billion likes, comments, shares, and retweets in the 2019/20 season. This is actually 18% increase than the previous season.

The Blaugranas have kept the first position for three consecutive seasons defeating the likes of Liverpool (1.29 billion), Manchester United (1.13), Juventus (826M), and Real Madrid (765M), according to data published by Blinkfire.

As FC Barcelona did a breakdown of the engagements, it seems that Barça remains top on both Twitter and Instagram. Also, it is the only to break the 1 billion interaction barrier on Instagram. When it comes to Facebook, Liverpool remains favorites, followed by Manchester United and Juventus.

Whereas, when compared to other La Liga clubs, Barça is top on every network, with almost twice the number of interactions as those achieved by Real Madrid: 1.37B for Barça as opposed to 765 million for the Los Blancos.

On YouTube, FC Barcelona shows its supremacy, from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, the Barça channel got 458 million views of its material, 30% increase compare to the year before. Also, this is important because La Liga clubs are not allowed to publish match highlights on the networks, unlike clubs in the Premier League and Serie A.

Barça also has the most subscribers on YouTube, and is not far from breaking the 10 million barrier. Barça is also dominating on Tik Tok as it has grabbed 4.5 million followers and 38.5 million likes within a year and as on June 30, 2020, it had published 234 short-format videos, with 397 million views. Also, FC Barcelona reckons the fact that its immense success in Tik Tok is due to their engaging content in the lockdown period.

The Blugranas have explained in details the effect the COVID-19 pandemic had on its social media engagements and to know more read from FC Barcelona’s blog.
