Nearly two months after his son Akash Ambani was chosen chairman of Reliance Jio, Reliance Industries (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani today unveiled a succession plan for the business.
Akash, Isha, and Anant
Anant Ambani, his youngest son, will be in charge of the new energy company, which will be situated in Jamnagar, Gujarat, while Isha Ambani, Akash’s twin, will oversee the retail division. At his company’s 45th annual general meeting (AGM), 65-year-old Mukesh Ambani stated that all three of them had the founder’s (Dhirubhai Ambani) mentality.
Mukesh Ambani asked the shareholders for their support for these people, referring to them as the Young Leaders of Reliance. They are a member of a young group of professionals and leaders, he claimed, who are already accomplishing incredible things at Reliance. The chairman and the board of directors of RIL, as well as other senior officials, coach each of them daily.
At Jamnagar, the corporation is constructing a fully integrated new energy manufacturing ecosystem. According to the older Ambani, Anant spends the majority of his time in Jamnagar. Additionally, Mukesh Ambani urged the shareholders to evaluate him and his leadership group based on their results.
Building Reliance for the Future
They want the business to be strong, resilient, purpose-driven, and genuinely future-ready. Mukesh Ambani stated that he will devote himself to making RIL more strong, resilient, purpose-driven, and future-ready even as he continues to provide hands-on leadership as before.
One of the most anticipated AGM announcements, along with a schedule for the demerger and public offering of the telecom and retail sectors, was a succession plan for the Reliance group. Even if there was no timetable for the planned fundraising, today’s statement is a start in the right direction.
Graduate of Brown University, Akash Ambani has participated in several Jio announcements, including the beginning of the company’s operations in 2016. He is also reported to have contributed to the creation of the 2020 pact between Facebook and what is now known as Meta.
Isha Ambani attended Stanford University and, like her twin, has participated in several retail announcements over the years, such as the partnership with WhatsApp c AGM. She also disclosed the beginning of an FMCG company this year. Anant is a director of the group’s solar company, while Isha and Akash are on the boards of directors for the retail and telecom companies.
Isha is thought to have signed numerous brand relationships in the retail industry over the years and was instrumental in the establishment of the company’s lifestyle platform, Ajio. The brothers Mukesh and Anil Ambani separated the former Reliance Industries, which Dhirubhai Ambani created, in 2005, with the former keeping the right to use the firm name.
However, there were already some cracks before the partition, and these eventually led to a protracted legal battle between the two corporations. Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Industries, died in 2002 without leaving a will.
