Everton Farhad Moshiri is in advanced talks with American real estate investor Maciek Kaminski over a £400 million sale of the club. The little-known investor has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Moshiri. However, any takeover would be subject to the approval of the Premier League and several other bodies.
But while talks are advanced, there are several key points that must be ironed out before the change in ownership takes place. One of them is the funds for the new stadium, and the other is the uncertainty of the UK economy.
Farhad Moshiri in talks to sell Everton
Should the takeover goes through, exactly half of the Premier League clubs will have American shareholders. Kaminski set up KAM Sports in order to manage and own premier international sports assets.
But, they released the following statement with regard to Everton:
‘As a general principle, we prefer to conduct our business in private to create the fairest environment for those involved – and in this particular situation, to minimize uncertainty for fans of Everton.
‘It is regrettable that this has not been possible. We respectfully remain interested in acquiring the club as we believe its fans deserve nothing less than the best, and our offer to achieve this stands.
‘However, in consideration of all Everton fans, we will not be making further public comments at this time.’
Everton fans have protested Farhad Moshiri’s ownership of the club in the last few years. And soon, they could get their wish if a breakthrough in negotiations is achieved.
