Chennaiyin FC have announced the signing of Senegalese centre-back Fallou Diagne, bolstering their squad ahead of the new season. The 32-year-old has earned three caps for the national team, playing alongside some of the best players in the world such as Sadio Mane and Kalidou Koulibaly.

In addition to the national team, he has also played in some of the top leagues in Europe. In France, he featured for Metz and Rennes. In Germany, he has played for Freiburg and Werder Bremen. His most recent spell was with Albanian side KF Vllaznia where he played under Chennaiyin’s new boss Thomas Brdaric, winning the Albanian Cup.

“We are thrilled to welcome Fallou Diagne as our first new foreign signing ahead of the upcoming season. It’s always good to bring in a player that the coach has worked with before. The experience he brings, having played in the German and French first tier leagues, will be invaluable to our young squad,” Chennaiyin’s co-owner, Vita Dani said.

The veteran has all the credentials to become a big signing for the Machans this season. His experience in some of the best leagues in the world will no doubt be a big plus when it comes to matters on the pitch.

“I am excited because this is my first time in India. I am very happy to join Chennaiyin FC and I hope to bring something to the team so that together we win more titles,” he said ahead of his first stint in India.
