Beginning on October 28, Meta will discontinue its separate Facebook Gaming app for both Android and iOS. Additionally, neither the Apple Software Store nor the Google Play Store will have the app. The reasons behind the closure of the standalone game app were not given by Meta.

“Despite this news, our mission to connect players, fans and creators with the games they love hasn’t changed, and you’ll still be able to find your games, streamers and groups when you visit Gaming in the Facebook app,” reads a banner on its website.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything that you’ve done to build a thriving community for gamers and fans since this app first launched,” the notice added.

In order to enable users to watch their preferred streamers, play immediate games, and participate in gaming communities, the app was released in April 2020. Facebook was compelled by Apple’s regulations to remove game elements from the app.

The business declared that it would keep supporting gaming groups, programmers, and producers on the main Facebook app.

“Facebook experienced some hurdles trying to launch the app, as Apple rejected the app numerous times, citing its rules that prohibit apps with the main purpose of distributing casual games, reports TechCrunch.

For all developers, Facebook Gaming has launched a new “Clips to Reels” function that allows them to turn live gameplay clips into Reels.
