The two-day virtual event with an effort to showcase how Facebook and its products including Instagram and WhatsApp are being used by millions of people and several entrepreneurs in the countryAkash and Isha Ambani, directors of Reliance Jio, address the opening segment on the Facebook-Reliance Jio partnership 

Isha Ambani touched upon the progress that India has made since Reliance Jio’s debut in the country, and the vision of highest service quality at the lowest price. Akash Ambani spoke on Jio’s role as a “digital enabler” of our new generation society 

Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg conducted a joint session with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani to detail their experiences in India 

Zuckerberg and Ambani emphasised that the deal was aimed to support small businesses in the country. Sh. MDA added, ‘We will become a value creation platform for our customers and small businesses, giving them a chance to digitise and be at par with anybody else in the world’ 

MDA affirms,  

  • Jio was able to maintain 99.99% availability of the network across the country throughout the pandemic, helping everyone to work from home  
  • Reliance has set up Covid-19 dedicated hospital in Mumbai & its research facility Reliance Life Sciences has helped in the Covid-19 testing process. It has produced 100,000 PPE kits in the country  
  • The Reliance Foundation distributed 55 million meals for the vulnerable across India in the early pandemic months 
  • 800 million Indians have received free food until December, 200 million Indians have received direct bank transfer of Rs 1,500 to help the underprivileged see through the pandemic 
  • Indian organisations are leading the way in digital inclusions for the world. India’s youth playing a vital role with Zuckerberg being a role model for many enterprising entrepreneurs in India
