The Lionel Messi transfer saga was the talk of the summer of 2020, with the Argentinian handing in a transfer request via burofax. Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio provided an update on the future of the player on their Here We Go podcast.
The pair said that the Leo Messi situation will be influenced by the new Barcelona President, who will be elected at the end of the month. Messi apparently wants to hear from Barcelona, and the new President regarding the project that will be in place at Camp Nou for the future.
Talking about rumours will only lead to dead ends right now. Neither Manchester City, nor Paris Saint-Germain are currently in talks to sign Messi and nothing decided regarding the future yet.
However, speaking about the French Champions, Neymar wants to play with Messi for real. He was not joking at all when he said that he wants to stand alongside Messi once again. With Barcelona’s current financial crisis, it is impossible to see them bringing Neymar back. Hence, Messi moving to France makes much more sense.
The Brazilian is convinced that it could happen. Spanish twitter accounts say that Messi will end up staying at Barcelona after all the drama anyway, but the interview with La Sexta showed otherwise. Romano and Porzio both indicated that Messi’s was not the face of someone who really wanted to stay.
At this point, La Pulga is just biding his time and waiting for the appointment of a new president for a clear cut direction for the club. Moreover, the player also mentioned that we would have to wait till the end of the season to find out what happens, and that seems most likely right now.
