Things just continue to get worse for Tottenham. Sporting director Fabio Paratici has now been hit with a worldwide ban from working directly in the transfer market, which makes his current job at the club impossible to continue.
Juventus were handed a 15-point deduction after an investigation was carried out for false accounting. The club also saw their entire board resign as a result of that, and Paratici was given a 30-month ban from working in Italian football. FIFA have now confirmed that the sanctions apply even beyond Italy.
Fabio Paratici banned from working in transfer market
“Fifa can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of Fifa disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect,” an official statement regarding the matter read.
Fabio Paratici was expected to have an important role to play in the coming months since the club is in search of a new manager. Spurs are expected to appeal the decision, but there are doubts about whether their pleas will be granted.
Should the ban stand, then Paratici would have to be replaced by another sporting director. And in that case, it could lead to another tumultuous period at the club. Cristian Stellini is currently set to manage the first team, with Ryan Mason as his assistant.
