Barcelona are set to complete the signing of Fabio Blanco from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 17-year-old will return to Spain for practically zero cost and will become the third recruit for the club in the January transfer window alongside Ferran Torres and Dani Alves.
The main reason behind him moving is due to the lack of first-team opportunities provided to him by the German club. Blanco will sign a contract until 2024, and the transfer fee involved is practically zero.
Who is Fabio Blanco, Barcelona’s latest signing?
Fabio Blanco is a 17-year-old winger who came through the Valencia academy, the same as Ferran Torres. He was signed by Eintracht Frankfurt this summer for free, and after only a few months in Germany, is expected to return to Spain.
The player has made eight appearances in the U19 Bundesliga this season, and has scored two goals. He won’t be a part of Xavi’s first-team right away and will be playing under Sergi Barjuan at Barcelona B.
But like many other impressive youngsters, he could be promoted to the first team if he manages to show that he is ready. However, he will be facing a lot of competition for a spot due to the wealth of young talent that Barcelona currently have.
With Ansu Fati, Abde, Gavi, Nico and now, Fabio Blanco all part of the future generation, it will be very interesting to see where Barcelona can go from here.
