The F1 British GP 2022 had a crazy beginning, with Zhou Guanyu’s car being sent upside down, in a scary collision on lap 1 itself. The Alfa Romeo driver had to be stretchered to the hospital, and the race was immediately red-flagged.

Luckily, he was conscious throughout and the race was restarted after an hour. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari picked up the win, after starting in pole position. Sergio Perez of Red Bull finished second, with Lewis Hamilton completing the podium. Only 14 cars finished the race, owing to the madness that took place on the tracks.

In the first start, Verstappen passed Carlos Sainz. But, managed to hold him off after the race was restarted. There were a couple of collisions between Sainz’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, and the two Red Bull drivers as well. Luckily, not much damage was done to either car.

It has been a rather frustrating season for Charles Leclerc, and their race strategy for the British GP 2022 led to heated discussion between Leclerc and team boss Mattia Binotto. However, both of them tried to downplay the fallout from the race.

Max Verstappen finished seventh, while Leclerc finished fourth, both of whom are in contention for the World Championship. But despite his seventh placed finish, he is leading the drivers rankings and has a 34-point lead on second placed Sergio Perez, also his teammate.
