Samsung‘s highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series has made its debut, introducing the in-house Exynos 2400 chipset. While the standard Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset in most regions, the top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all markets. This article will provide a comparison of Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: AnTuTu Benchmark

The AnTuTu benchmark revealed that the Exynos 2400 scored 1,781,862 points, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 surpassed the 2 million mark, reaching a score of 2,057,772. While the Exynos 2400 CPU closely rivals the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the GPU performance shows a notable 30% difference.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: AI Benchmarks

The Exynos 2400 boasts a new AI engine, claimed to be 14.7x faster than its predecessor. However, AI benchmark results showed inconsistencies, particularly in the AITuTu benchmark, where the Exynos 2400 scored significantly lower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This discrepancy may be attributed to software compatibility issues or the need for developers to add framework support for the Exynos 2400’s new AI engine

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: CPU Throttling Test

In the CPU throttling test, the Exynos 2400 throttled to 72% of its maximum performance, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 throttled to 82%. Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performed admirably under sustained load, the Exynos 2400 began throttling after just two minutes of heavy usage.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: 3DMark GPU Test

In the 3DMark Wild Life test, the Exynos 2400’s Xclipse 940 GPU scored 4,304, and the Adreno 750 GPU on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored 5,114. The GPU performance difference was approximately 18%. In the more intensive Wild Life Extreme Stress test, both GPUs showcased impressive scores, with the Exynos 2400 holding its own against the Adreno 750 GPU.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Geekbench 6

The Exynos 2400, equipped with a deca-core CPU, exhibited expected performance in the Geekbench CPU test. Scoring 2046 in the single-core test and 6687 in the multi-core test, it competes closely with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Despite having 10 CPU cores, the Exynos 2400’s multi-core test suggests that TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process may still outpace Samsung Foundry’s 4nm LPP+ process.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: 5G Speed Test

Surprisingly, in the 5G speed test, the Exynos 2400’s 5G modem outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, delivering better download and upload speeds. The Exynos 2400 reached up to 386 Mbps in the download test and 49.8 Mbps in the upload test, surpassing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s peak speeds. The benchmark faceoff between the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 provides valuable insights into their respective performances, revealing strengths and areas for improvement in both chipsets.
