Tyler Rake isn’t done yet — and honestly, neither are we. Netflix has officially confirmed that **Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, and Golshifteh Farahani** are all returning for **Extraction 3**, one of the most anticipated [action film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_film) sequels currently in development. With filming set to begin this summer and a globe-trotting story already in motion, things are about to get loud.

## What We Know About the Story So Far?

Plot details are tightly under wraps, but the ending of *Extraction 2* laid significant groundwork. Idris Elba’s mysterious character “Alcott” — who recruited Tyler Rake for his mission and then broke him and Nik out of prison at the film’s conclusion — is clearly central to what comes next. Rake and Nik now owe a job to Alcott’s enigmatic boss, and that debt is almost certainly the engine driving the third film’s story.

Expect another sprawling, globe-trotting mission packed with the kind of brutal, kinetic action sequences that made the franchise one of Netflix’s most-watched properties worldwide.

## Extraction 3: A New Writer in the Room

One notable behind-the-scenes change is the scriptwriter. The previous two films were written by Joe Russo, but **David Weil** — known for Amazon’s *Hunters* and the Russo Brothers’ own *Citadel* — is penning *Extraction 3*. It’s a lateral move within the same creative orbit, and Weil’s background in morally complex, high-stakes narratives makes him a natural fit. Director **Sam Hargrave**, the stuntman-turned-filmmaker who has helmed both previous installments, is back for a third time.

The Russo Brothers continue producing through AGBO alongside Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson under Wild State.

## The Extraction Universe Is Growing Fast

Beyond the main film, Netflix is actively building a full **Extraction cinematic universe**. Two spin-offs — *Mercenary: An Extraction Series* and *Tygo* — have already wrapped production, signalling that Netflix sees this franchise as a long-term action powerhouse, not just a trilogy.
