PlayerzPot was started in 2015 from a small garage in Airoli, Mumbai, by the co-founders who shared the same passion for fantasy sports and a vision to build India’s best fantasy sports platform. Being first-time entrepreneurs, the initial days trying to grow the company were accompanied by hard lessons and experiences. But taking these as learning opportunities and course-correcting their strategies to innovate and adapt, PlayerzPot was revamped in 2017 and was the first to come up with concepts like ‘Refer & Earn for Lifetime’ along with the option of instant withdrawals, in India. Since then, the platform has continued to add more unique feature and build credibility and today enjoys a strong foothold in the market. PlayerzPot has recently roped in cricketers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Smriti Mandhana as its brand ambassadors.
In an exclusive interview with TechnoSports, Mr Mitesh Gangar from PlayerzPot tells us about the idea behind this project and future plans
We asked a few questions to which Mitesh Gangar has answered. Here’s what he told us:
1. How did PlayerzPot come into existence?
In 2015, we observed that there was a gap between the real world and how sports fantasy is perceived or played in India. Citing this gap, PlayerzPot was born. For a cricket friendly nation like India, sports content was consumed daily. We felt daily fantasy sports as the best fit. We maneuvered the initial obstacles of starting on from a garage setup by giving IT services and utilising the fund for building our Fantasy Website. In 2017 we launched our Website and the same year we rolled out our Android Application. In 3 years we have surpassed 3 million user base and are gaining good traction.
2. What was the idea behind building PlayerzPot?
PlayerzPot was started with a goal to combine understanding & knowledge of sports with online gaming. It was started with the thought of converting the majority of online sports watching population across India to an active user on the app.Â
3. What is the current usage statistics of PlayerzPot?
The platform is currently male dominant accounting to around 90%.We are seeing an increasing trend in the female user base since the adoption of casual games. Playerzpot has the highest retention rate amongst the peers. We could see 10% retention at 6th month.On average we see a user spending around 15-20 minutes on the platform. The usage is at its peak in prime matches.
4. How do you plan to take PlayerzPot forward?
We want to be one point gaming destination in the Real Money Gaming Segment.We are entering in the Casual Games as there are days when there are no live matches happening so we focus on the casual games like Quiz, Housie etc and keep our user base engaged. We are planning to add many games in the upcoming month to keep users engaged.This year we are anticipating a growth of 3X in user base and 5X in Revenue. With new games and diversification of our Real Money Gaming portfolio we want to meet the Gen Z target audience.Â
About Mitesh Gangar (Co-founder & Director)
Mitesh Gangar co-founded PlayerzPot Media Pvt Ltd., in 2015 and has been serving as the Director since then and was responsible for creating the technological setup for the company. He is now extensively working on raising the brand profile of PlayerzPot. Prior to embarking on his journey of entrepreneurship, Mitesh started his career at Techathalon Software Services Pvt Ltd as a Php developer where he learned to build and manage projects right from scratch and create user centric platforms. It was during this stint, where he developed and learnt other necessary skills like resource management, client relationship management among others. By the time he left to begin PlayerzPot with Mr. Yogesh Doiphode, he had bagged the Best Software Developer award at the company in the year 2015. The above-mentioned skills and technical know-how helped him immensely during the early days of PlayerzPot, as he built and developed the team from a small garage-like setup to where it is today.
Mitesh completed his Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science from Shah and Anchor Kuttchi Engineering College (Mumbai University) in 2012. He has also secured Grade A, after the successful completion of Online Certificate Course (OCC) on The RTI Act, 2005, by CGG in collaboration with DoPT, Government of India. Mitesh is
extremely interested in giving back to the community and get involved in many social and community benefit programmes.
