Everton have sacked Rafa Benitez as the manager of the club only seven months after being in charge of the club. The Spaniard lost his final game in charge against relegation-threatened Norwich City away from home.

The travelling fans at Carrow Road demanded “get out of our club”, while a pitch invader tried to confront the Spaniard as well.

The decision was a result of an emergency meeting of the Everton board, where they decided that Benitez would have to be replaced as the manager of the club after six and a half months in charge.

Everton are currently in 16th place, after a terrible first half of the season. They have failed to win games, and have also had to deal with a very poor atmosphere around the club.

The fans have been protesting Benitez’s arrival since day one, and things only got worse when the former Liverpool manager failed to win games with the team. They have only earned 19 points from just as many games, and look destined for a lower middle finish.

Since taking over from Carlo Ancelotti, Benitez has had his worst win rate in charge of any English club with the Toffees, with a rate of 31%, even lower than his time with Newcastle.

The club have announced that a replacement will be announced in due course, and the likes of Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Roberto Martinez and Graham Potter have been rumoured as potential targets for the club.
