Everton are interested in signing Duvan Zapata from Atalanta, and also face competition from West Ham United and Nottingham Forest. The forward is valued at £25 million, which is a considerable fee for the Toffees to deal with.
The 31-year-old prefers a move to London, but nothing has been finalised as of yet. Everton are keen on signing the Colombian on a loan deal, and would be open to the option of buying the player as well. But, Atalanta are only considering a permanent deal for the striker as things stand.
Everton exploring the opportunity to sign Duvan Zapata from Atalanta
The physical striker signed for La Dea from Sampdoria in 2018, and has scored 80 goals in 170 matches. However, he hasn’t been able to get things going this season, netting only once.
The Toffees are currently in a relegation battle, and need a recognised goalscorer to help them out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled to get things going, and there is a need for a player like Duvan Zapata to become a reliable goalscorer for Frank Lampard. But, they have had a loan proposal with a €15 million buy clause rejected.
Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic is one of the other names that the club is considering during the January transfer window. The 33-year-old has previous experience in the Premier League, scoring 43 goals in 184 appearances for Stoke City and West Ham United.
