Everton have made an offer for Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher, with their bid valued at £45 million. The Toffees have proposed £40 million in the form of a fixed fee, with the rest available in the form of add-ons.
With the transfer deadline only a day away, Chelsea will have to make decision soon. Plus, the player will also have to decide whether or not a move away is the best choice for his career. Gallagher has said that he wants to stay and fight for his place with his boyhood club, and it will be interesting to see how things play out.
Everton make surprise Connor Gallagher bid
Several Premier League clubs are interested in signing the midfielder, with the likes of Crystal Palace and Newcastle United being linked with him recently. However, neither of them have made a formal offer to sign him like Everton have.
While Chelsea have signed a lot of players in the transfer market, they have not recruited a lot of central midfielders. And with N’Golo Kante yet to return, a dynamic box-to-box midfielder is a huge requirement for the team.
Gallagher fulfils that role in some capacity, and provided a goalscoring threat that neither Jorginho nor Mateo Kovacic add. He has shown signs of his quality but hasn’t been able to lock down a consistent starting place.
He would be expected to have a more important role away at Everton, but would probably not compete in Europe. As a result, it depends on the player as to whether he will choose to leave Chelsea at this stage of his career.
