Wirtz opened the scoring early in the game for the Bundesliga champions before Robert Andrich made it two in the second half with the terrific strike. Roma had their chances in the second half, but were unable to make anything out of them. They finished with an xG of 1.28, but had nothing to show for the opportunities created.

For Bayer Leverkusen, it is one more game unbeaten and another step towards what could be a historic year for the club.

Gianluca Scamacca has been in top form for Atalanta this season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions. And he was on the scoresheet in the first leg of the semifinal as well, helping the Italian side take the lead. However, his goal was cancelled out by Chancel Mbemba within ten minutes, and the two sides couldn’t be separated thereafter.

With no fixtures in between, Marseille will be able to train exclusively for their return leg. On the other hand, Atalanta face Salernitana on Monday and have a big challenge to face next Thursday.
