Spain have sealed their place in the Euro 2024 Quarter finals, smashing Georgia 4-1 to end their miraculous run in the tournament. The underdogs took the lead early in the game through an own goal from Robin Le Normand, which was also the first goal La Roja have conceded in the Euros.
While Georgia looked very threatening on the counter attack, Spain had regained control of the game by the end of the first half. Rodri stepped up to score in a big game yet again, equalising for his country right before the end of the first half.

For their first major tournament, they did fantastic to reach the knockout stages!
Can definitely continue to improve for future tournaments with Mikautadze, Kvaratskhelia, Mamardashvili etc. 📈✨ pic.twitter.com/G2ZNCAy3Gq
Fabian Ruiz gave La Roja the lead shortly into the second half, and from there, it was smooth sailing for Luis de la Fuente’s side. Kvaratskhelia had missed a chance to make it 2-1 for Georgia just moments ago, and would go on to rue the wasted chance.
After dominating possession in the second half, Spain were finally able to add a safety net to the scoreline, with Nico Williams and Dani Olmo both scoring within a space of ten minutes to end all hopes of a comeback from the Euro debutants.
While Spain advance as one of the favourites to win the Euros, Georgia’s run has been nothing short of memorable, given it is their first time in a major European tournament, and how impressive they have been.
