UEFA have revealed the Euro 2024 mascot, a teddy bear to help increase the engagement of children with football. The mascot is unnamed as of yet, but UEFA have narrowed down the list of names to four on their official site and have asked the fans to vote for the name that they find the best suited.
The four choices that are up for voting are: Albärt, Bärnardo, Bärnheart or Herzi von Bär. The word “Bär” is German for ‘bear’, and is the recurring theme across all the names. You can vote for the Euro 2024 mascot’s name through UEFA’s official website here.
Euro 2024 mascot revealed: Name to be decided soon
The results of the poll will be declared in two weeks time, once the final decision has been made. The mascot was revealed to the fans during Germany’s recent friendly with Colombia at the Arena AufSchalke.
However, it was debuted at a school in Gelsenkirchen, to encourage children to get involved in football.
The teddy bear originated in Germany during the 20th century, and upon being chosen as the mascot of the coming tournament, UEFA have decided to pay homage to the history of the now famous children’s companion.
The qualification process for Euro 2024 is currently ongoing, with hosts Germany automatically qualifying for the tournament.
