The quarter-finals of the Euros were played out to a conclusion last night, with Denmark and England sealing their places in the penultimate stage of the tournament by beating the Czech Republic and Ukraine respectively.

The day before, Italy knocked out the number one squad in the world, Belgium. Spain, on the other hand, sent Switzerland packing on penalties. The two big games set up involve Denmark facing England and Italy facing Spain to set up mouth-watering clashes for patrons and neutrals alike.

Denmark continued their fairytale campaign in the European Championship by putting in a great game against Czech Republic. After Christian Eriksen collapsed in the very first match of the tournament against Finland, the fact that they have made it this deep into the tournament despite being underdogs is remarkable. And even the most optimistic fans won’t rule out an upset victory over England.

After a series of 1-0 victories, England finally managed to put 4 past Ukraine to seal their place in the semis. Given the talent that they have at their disposal, this could finally be the year that it’s coming home.

Italy Vs Spain is even difficult to call, since the Azzurri have been so impressive throughout the tournament. Given that Spain struggled to dispatch Switzerland, and Italy made short work of a talented squad like Belgium, Roberto Mancini clearly heads into the clash with more momentum. Italy are the clear favourites in the semi final, and face Spain tomorrow.
