Erling Haaland has been urged to make a decision about his future by Borussia Dortmund, amidst constant transfer speculation.
The Norwegian is one of the most coveted strikers in the world, and has a €75 million release clause that becomes valid in the summer. Some of the top clubs in the world have come asking for him, with Barcelona and Real Madrid leading the race.
Erling Haaland speaks out on Dortmund future
‘[For] The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Borussia Dortmund, but now the club has started pressing me into making a decision,’ the 21-year-old told Norwegian broadcaster Viasat.
‘All I want to do is to play football, but they [Dortmund] press me to make a decision now about my future […]
‘So that means I have to make a decision soon.”They have started to put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that,’ he said.
‘I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for the club and the fans.
‘But now that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so it is the time to get things started. It means things will happen now.’
Real Madrid have plans to sign both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the summer. And with Mbappe’s contract winding down with PSG, they might not have to spend an astronomical amount to make it happen either.
But, Barcelona, amidst their poor financial situation, have made their intentions of signing top talent clear. Haaland’s decision will surely spark up a lot of transfer speculation when it is made, or not.
