Erling Haaland has enjoyed an outstanding start to life in the Premier League. The Manchester City striker has scored 19 goals in 12 games for the club. And despite it being only months since he signed from Borussia Dortmund, rumours about a release clause in his contract have gained reaction.
Pep Guardiola was recently asked about these rumours following City’s 5-0 win against Copenhagen in the Champions League. And the City manager denied the existence of any such clause.

“It’s not true,” Guardiola said. “He has not got a release clause for Real Madrid, or any other team.
“Am I annoyed by the rumours? No, absolutely not. Rumours, and people talking, you cannot control it – so always we have to worry about what we can control.
“The important thing is that he has adapted [since joining City] really well. I have the feeling he is incredibly happy here, and this is the most important thing.”
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, a release clause does exist in Erling Haaland’s contract. But, it will not be valid right now since he just made the move. Nor will it be specific for any team. A general clause will come into effect in due course, when the player’s contract starts running down.
