Erling Haaland

There is enough reason for the footballing world to question whether Erling Haaland truly is human or not. But the numbers prove that the Leeds-born striker is simply a generational talent.

His brace against Bayer Leverkusen in the final match of the season means that the player finished his first full Bundesliga season with 27 goals to his name. He finished third in the race for the top scorer award, behind Robert Lewandowski with 41, and Andre Silva of Eintracht Frankfurt with 28.

However, extending the metrics to all competitions, Haaland is the first Under 21 player to score 40 goals in all competitions for a club since Ronaldo for Barcelona in 1996/97. He will finish as the top scorer in the Champions League this season, with 10 goals to his name. That is despite Borussia Dortmund bowing out against Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Haaland is a special talent and is showing that with every passing matchday. The next season under Marco Rose will be very interesting to watch since they have worked together previously. Moreover, the next season will almost certainly be his last in black and yellow.

"Erling Haaland becomes the first Under-21 player to reach the 40-goal mark in a season with a European Top 5 club in an official competition since Ronaldo with FC Barcelona in 1996/97"

That is because his release clause worth €75 million kicks in from the summer of 2022. All possible clubs from Europe will be in the race to sign the player, and it is almost sure that he will make a move to a big club. Signs of greatness appear early, and for Haaland, the glory is only beginning.
