Erling Haaland has missed out on the chance to break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the least games taken to score 100 goals for a club. The Portugal icon scored 100 for Real Madrid in just 105 games.
The Manchester City striker, on the other hand, drew a blank in his 104th game for City in the Champions League tie against Inter. Now, he can only match the record if he scores in the club’s next game against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The Norwegian has been incredible since his arrival in Manchester two years ago. While it is easy to loss count of the number of records he has broken since joining the Premier League, Ronaldo’s is one that he misses out on.
Haaland was tightly marked in the game against Inter, and barely had a chance to extend his tally. This sentiment was echoed by manager Pep Guardiola, who noted that there were six Inter players marking Haaland in the tightly contested game.
With 99 goals to his name, it is only a matter of time before the Premier League top scorer finds the back of the net again. However, to do it in a big match against Arsenal would be a great way to silence his critics once again.
