Erling Haaland is earning a salary close to £900,000 at Manchester City, taking him way ahead of his teammates. The Norwegian made the move to the Etihad this summer for a bargain £51 million fee.
That amount was his release clause from the German side, and the main point of consideration for him was the sporting project. Several top clubs across the continent were prepared to offer him high paying contracts, but he decided to move to the Premier League with the Sky Blues.
And with them, he has enjoyed an exceptional start.
Erling Haaland one of the highest paid footballers in the world
The 22-year-old’s base salary is at par with other top earners in Pep Guardiola’s squad such as Kevin De Bruyne. But, the bonuses included in the contract push his salary around, and over the £865,000 mark.
Haaland has scored 19 goals in 12 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions this season. And by the looks of things, he is expected to set a bunch of new records in his very first season with the Mancunian side.
All in all, the striker is expected to earn a wage of £45 million for the season. And this puts him among the highest paid footballers in the world such as Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi.
