Erling Haaland returned to scoring ways in Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium. The Norwegian netted a brace to take his tally to 22 for the current season, and 17 in the Premier League so far.
Sky Sports recently interviewed his new agent, Rafaela Pimenta, who was appointed following the demise of Mino Raiola. There were several topics that Pimenta discussed, including the existence of a release clause in the player’s contract.
Rafaela Pimenta says Erling Haaland could be the first £1 billion player
Spanish clubs in particular have made a habit of putting a €1 billion release clause on their most important players. And Pimenta has said that her client could easily be worth that amount: “That is what I think because if you put together his football value, his image value, his sponsor value it is for sure £1bn,” she said.
However, she denied the existence of a release clause in Erling Haaland’s Manchester City contract.
“The good and bad of being a lawyer is that you know what you can and cannot say. You do not need someone poking you going: ‘don’t say this.’ I cannot talk about.”
But the door is open for City to negotiate a new contract even though the player has only recently began his journey with the Sky Blues: “I hope so, if they want to discuss today we would be happy. Why not? All is good.”
