Erik Ten Hag will be staying at Manchester United as the first team manager for the coming season. The Dutchman led the team to the FA Cup, earning their second title from three finals. And INEOS have decided that he is the right person to lead the team for the coming season.

Questions were asked of his future after an 8th place finish in the Premier League, United’s worst in history. However, he turned things around, ensuring Europa League football with the FA Cup win.

An important point to remember is the sheer number of injuries Erik Ten Hag had to deal with throughout the season. At one point, there were almost no first team centre-backs available, and Casemiro had to fill in, dropping deeper.

Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and have also been unavailable for large parts of the season, adding to the problems Ten Hag has had to face. But, the nature of defeats against Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Bournemouth is what really caused fans to lose faith.

After turning things around at the end of the season, the former Ajax manager has earned another season in charge. This time, though, the board will be expecting a return to Champions League football and a good performance in the Europa League alongside the Premier League.
