Erik Ten Hag has emerged as the favourite to become the new manager of Manchester United starting from the next season. But, the board is apparently split about his appointment.

Even though he is the most probable solution for the Red Devils, it seems like the club has doubts over him after two rounds of interviews. Most of them are related to his plans for when he takes charge of the first team.

The Dutch manager has talked about a five-year plan with the board, and has also asked for several signings from Ajax. Considering the failed transfers for Memphis Depay and Donny van de Beek, United are skeptical about the transfer strategy.

However, they are confident about reaching an agreement with the 52-year-old soon. He has been approved by Ralf Rangnick, and further discussions are taking place about his appointment as of right now.

The release clause in Erik Ten Hag’s contract worth €2 million is not an issue for Manchester United. An agreement surrounding finer details such as staff members, long-term project and transfer strategy are considered essential before his arrival is official.

Mauricio Pochettino of PSG is the other strongly linked candidate. But, his contract is worth €25 million. PSG have been rumoured to want to sack the Argentine following their disappointing Champions League campaign, and how things stand at the end of the season could affect his future as well.
