The confirmation still stands and Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia is set to make a return to Barcelona in the summer as a free agent, as was agreed between the two parties in December. There have been rumours circulating recently over a potential collapse in the agreement deal due to the silence of both parties over the transfer.
However, as reaffirmed by Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the deal is on and Garcia is set to feature for the Barcelona first team next summer. Manchester City officials, along with Pep Guardiola himself tried multiple times to get the Spaniard to stay, but he was keen on leaving the Etihad and considering Barcelona’s need for a reliable first team centre-back, the deal is a win-win one for both Barcelona and Garcia.
Elsewhere at Camp Nou, Ousmane Dembele is set to begin contract renewal talks with Barcelona in the upcoming weeks, since the club consider him an important player and see him as a valuable asset for their future. This season, he has featured 35 times for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 9 and assisting 4.
He has also been relatively fit and available for selection, and is also playing for France in their World Cup qualifiers.
Barcelona are set to acquire two more free agents this summer in the form of Gini Wijnaldum from Liverpool and Memphis Depay from Lyon, with both Dutch internationals keen to link up with Ronald Koeman at Camp Nou.
