After about a year of speculation, Eric Garcia seems all set to be on his way to make a return to Barcelona. Speaking on the player’s future on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano said it was a done deal.

A pre-contract agreement has been reached between Eric Garcia and Barcelona, and the player will surely be returning to Camp Nou this year. Whether or not that happens in January or in June is something that still remains to be seen.

Pep Guardiola wants Eric Garcia and is confident that Barcelona cannot snatch him

While Barcelona made a €10 million bid for Garcia last year, Manchester City promptly rejected their advances and kept Garcia on their books. With the player’s contract expiring at the end of the current season, he will be allowed to leave for free when it has expired.

A five year deal has been agreed between the player and his former club, and Garcia is seen as a vital part of the future of the Barcelona backline, with the club on the lookout for quality centre-backs.

Manchester City made plenty of efforts to try and make Garcia stay, with board members trying to convince the player, alongside not only Pep Guardiola, but also his teammates. The club tabled a lucrative deal for the player as well, but the player refused since his heart is set on returning to Catalonia.

All major details have been agreed between Garcia and Barcelona, and only the little intricacies remain to be sorted out. The contract has not yet been signed, and it will require the appointment of the next Barcelona president to officially go through.
