Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Eric Dier on a permanent transfer. The defender is already in Germany to complete the transfer, and will soon complete his medical for the move. Documents are already being exchanged between the two clubs, and the move is soon expected to be made official.
Spurs will receive a transfer fee worth just under €4 million, and Dier will sign a contract until June 2025. This marks the end of almost ten years with the London club, after making the move in the summer of 2014 from Sporting CP.
Eric Dier to sign for Bayern Munich after ten years with Tottenham
Spurs recently completed the signing of Radu Dragusin from Genoa to replace their long serving defender. The Romanian will soon be revealed as a new signing for Spurs, after rejecting Bayern. On the other hand, Dier will reunite with Harry Kane, who made the move to Germany in the summer transfer window this season.
Arguably the biggest achievement for the 29-year-old was making it to the Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019. And since then, he has been moved into central defence from a defensive midfield position.
But he has slotted in remarkably well, even earning a place in central defence for the England national team. And now, he will be applying his skills in a brand new league, arriving at his physical peak.
