Manchester United Eric Bailly

Marseille are all set to sign Eric Bailly on a loan deal for the 2022/23 season. The French club have reached a total agreement with Manchester United for the centre-back. And they have agreed on an obligation to make the move permanent in case they qualify for the Champions League next season as well.

The player is expected to fly to France in the next few hours to complete the formalities related to the transfer. Once that is done, his arrival will be announced officially by Marseille.

Marseille have been very active in the transfer window this summer, signing a number of key players to bolster their squad. They have signed Jonathan Clauss, Matteo Guendouzi, Jordan Veretout, Alexis Sanchez, Nuno Tavares and Chancel Mbemba already.

And soon, Eric Bailly will join the list of players to have made the switch. With Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire available, it was unlikely that the Ivory Coast defender would get a lot of minutes.

He has been good in some spells, but has had to deal with several injuries and fitness issues over the years. As a result, his progress has been hindered to an extent. He will now take on a new challenge in his career as he enters his peak, in Ligue 1.
