Elon Musk’s xAI has stealthily deployed a free version of its Grok AI, which is no longer capped to a select user base but available to all users on X (formerly Twitter). This is quite a change, as the AI which used to be limited to paid Premium and Premium+ subscribers, is now available to all but with some restrictions. Although xAI has yet to formally spill the tea on this update, users have already found the feature on both the X website and mobile applications.
Grok AI Now Free for All X Users: How to Access Elon Musk’s Chatbot on Website & Mobile App
Grok AI was first released in November 2023 but only to premium users — who paying ₹566 or ₹1,133 per month had either the Premium or Premium+ tier. Though all users can now talk to the bot with this complimentary option, there are limitations on the free version. The minimum interactions for free-tier users are capped, and they can request no more than ten inquiries every two hours. They can also use the Flux Image Generator developed by Black Forest Labs to produce three images per day.
Grok AI Free users have access to xAI’s latest AI model, Grok 2. Besides ordinary text-based conversations, users are able to enable a “Fun Mode,” which produces sarcastic and funny responses. Grok also can tap into the web to answer questions about current events and live sporting events, supplying users with the appropriate URLs and sources for its replies.
Users visit the X website or app, and the Grok icon appears at the bottom of the screen (or the left margin of the website) or in front of your face on the homepage. Once they tap the icon, users can then type their questions or prompts and get responses straight from the AI. Plus, users can save and share the images produced by Grok directly on their X account, allowing for easy interaction with the AI and content cross-sharing within the platform.
