Usually, fans wait months after a show premieres just to learn if it’s even getting a second season. “Elle” skipped that anxiety entirely — Prime Video’s “Legally Blonde” prequel was renewed before Season 1 even aired, and Season 2 has already finished filming.

The coming-of-age series, which follows a teenage Elle Woods navigating high school in 1990s Seattle, was renewed for Season 2 with production already wrapped, setting up the resolution of the finale’s love-triangle cliffhanger next year. That’s a remarkably fast turnaround for network-style scheduling. ### What Happens Next in the Story?

Showrunner Laura Kittrell confirmed that Season 2 picks up right where Season 1’s finale left off, resolving its cliffhangers without a long narrative gap. Season 2 will reportedly continue tracking Elle’s junior year, shifting focus to her spring semester. [Deadline](https://deadline.com/2026/07/elle-season-1-ending-explained-finale-recap-1236971750/)

The biggest new addition is Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (“Never Have I Ever,” “The Boys”), joining as Sam — the editor-in-chief and founder of the school newspaper, introduced as a sharp foil to Elle, especially given her devotion to AP Style over Elle’s love for Cosmopolitan. ### When Will It Actually Release?

No official premiere date has dropped yet, but timing offers a clue. Since Season 1 took roughly a year to go from the start of filming to its July 2026 premiere, Season 2 is expected to arrive sometime in summer or early fall 2027. Most of the original cast is set to return, including Chandler Kinney, Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, and Zac Looker — meaning the Seattle-based world Elle built in Season 1 stays largely intact.
