Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final tie, held at the Deutsche Bank Park. The game was played in an incredible atmosphere in Germany, with the two teams set up perfectly for a second leg meeting in Camp Nou.

Frankfurt thought they had earned a golden opportunity right before half time, with a penalty awarded by the referee. But upon inspection by VAR, the decision was overturned since Sergio Busquets had touched the ball through his challenge in the box. As a result, the first half ended level despite several great chances for both teams.

The second half saw Ansgar Knauff open the scoring for Eintracht Frankfurt with a superb strike. The ball fell to him after it was headed out from a corner, and the youngster hit an incredible volley to beat Marc Andre ter Stegen and send the home fans into a frenzy.

But their lead would not last too long, as Ferran Torres leveled things up for the visitors. A one-touch passage between substitutes Ousmane Dembele, Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres ended with the latter equalising for his side.

Imagine scoring a goal like that against Barcelona, and then watching them turn on vintage tiki-taka for a response 🥵

Eintracht Frankfurt looked very threatening in the first period, and could have had more than one goal in the tie. They will have a real chance at an upset win if they can carry this form over to Camp Nou when the two sides meet again.
