Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh Lyrics Controversy: Rupam Islam's Silence Amidst Online Debate Over His Music

Recently, Rupam Islam found himself at the center of a social media controversy for his song Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh Lyrics. Since 2002, his hit song “Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh” has been an anthem for heartbreak among the youth. However, this beloved track has now become the subject of heated debate.

A recent social media post went viral, comparing Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh Lyrics with Chris de Burgh’s “Not Crying Over You.” The caption read, “I always believed that Rupam Islam’s ‘Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh Lyrics’ was an original piece. Now, I realize many of his songs might be copied—or rather, translated into Bengali. My entire childhood feels like a lie.”

Ei Ekla Ghor Amar Desh Lyrics Controversy: Rupam Islam’s Silence Amidst Online Debate Over His Music

The post quickly gained Attention, revealing that many were unaware that Rupam had credited the original lyricist for the song. As the truth surfaced, it sparked outrage and criticism, leading to widespread trolling. Singer Durnibar Saha brought this issue to public attention, and he too faced backlash. Some argue that Rupam’s song is a direct translation rather than mere inspiration, while others believe Durnibar’s post was seen as disrespectful to Rupam, angering his fans.

Durnibar posted, “Some people are acting like their lives are ruined. I’m sharing this picture for their benefit. Not everything is on Google. Please be properly informed before making any statements.” He included lyrics where Rupam credited Chris de Burgh.

While Rupam has remained silent, his wife, Rupsa Dasgupta, has not. She called the trolls ‘nincompoops’ and pointed out that Rupam Islam’s 2005 album “Epitaph” introduced a generation to Chris de Burgh’s song.

This issue has sparked a significant buzz on social media, with no group holding back against the other.
