Brighton and Hove Albion 0-3 Manchester United

The Seagulls hosted the Red Devils for the second time in a week. However, with rotated squads, as is natural in cup ties, things did not go so well. While Manchester United fans will be happy to see their team go through to the next round, Brighton did not give United a fight similar to that of their previous meeting.

The scoring opened right before half time when Scot McTominay found the back of the net to make it 1-0. A wonderful delivery from a free-kick taken by Juan Mata found McTominay’s run into the box, who buried the header into the corner.

Brighton’s best chance was that following a brilliant piece of possession play by Molumby in the 67th minute. An extremely well hit shot by Trossard was saved by Henderson in a tremendous effort to keep it 1-0.

A brilliant flick from the outside of the foot by Donny Van de Beek found Juan Mata, who made no mistake, making it 2-0 for the visitors.

The showstopper undeniably goes to the free-kick converted by Paul Pogba in the 80th minute. The Frenchman curled the ball in from 20 yards out, hitting the post and into the back of the net. No chance for the keeper at all.

Burnley 0-3 Manchester City

Both Manchester Clubs put three past their opponents and kept a clean sheet to proceed to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Manchester City opened the scoring after Sterling buried a cross from Benjamin Mendy with the left foot to make it 1-0 for the Citizens.

Sterling found himself on the scoresheet again as Manchester City made it 2-0 up right after the second half began. A brilliant turn in possession saw a counter-attack led by Torres. His cross from the left-hand side found Sterling who took his time to beat the keeper.

The last goal of the match saw Ferran Torres net his first as a City player.

While Peacock-Farrell made a number of good saves to keep Burnley in the game, Manchester City were unlucky to not have put more past the hosts. There were plenty of chances for the visitors to net more goals, but they won the game nevertheless and are through to the quarter-finals.
