Spanish midfielder Edu Bedia is set to return to Spain after spending seven years in India. The player spent the first half of the 23/24 season with Gokulam Kerala in the I-League, and is now returning to his native country to sign for fourth division club Gimnastica de Torrelaveg.

Prior to his move to Gokulam, he spent six years with FC Goa, establishing himself as a key figure in their team before moving on this past summer. During that time, he won the ISL 2019-20 League Winners’ Shield, the 2019 Super Cup, and the 2021 Durand Cup.

His time at Gokulam started well, but his impact eventually faded away. Overall, he made 10 appearances in the I-League for the team, registering four assists.

Unhappy with the way things have turned out, the midfielder decided that a return to his roots would be the right decision now. And he leaves after making a huge impact in the history of Indian football.

For the Gaurs, Edu Bedia made 122 appearances across all competitions, scoring and assisting 16 goals each. He also led the team to the AFC Champions League following their title run, and will see out the rest of his career close to home.

Back in Spain, Bedia featured for a number of clubs including Barcelona B, Real Oviedo, Real Zaragoza, Racing Santander and Hercules CF. It will be interesting to see how the twilight of his career plays out
