Edinson Cavani is all set to leave Manchester United this summer when his contract runs out. The Uruguayan striker has been struggling with fitness issues this season, which has limited his contributions to the first team.
Last season, he was quite impressive and was able to make an impact from the bench several times throughout the season. After arriving as a free agent from PSG, the striker scored 17 goals across all competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
As a result, he signed a renewal with the club on the promise that he would be more involved. However, Manchester United went ahead and signed Cristiano Ronaldo which hindered his role in the team.
Edinson Cavani in talks with Boca Juniors for potential transfer
Boca Juniors are currently second in Group B of the Argentine Premier Division. And, Edinson Cavani’s return to South America could help them with their progress in the Copa Libertadores this season as well. They are currently last in Group E with three points from just as many games.
Cavani is also on the radar of several La Liga clubs, and has options in case he wants to remain in Europe. River Plate were rumoured to be in the race for the veteran, but have now dropped out.
Having turned down several offers for a renewed contract from Manchester United, it now remains to be seen where El Matador will be playing his football next season.
