Edinson Cavani is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season as a free agent. The Uruguayan’s contract with the Red Devils runs out at the end of the season, and he will not be signing an extension.
La Liga has been rumoured as the most probable destination for Cavani, with several clubs from Spain interested in him. The arrival of Erik Ten Hag will not change his mind about his future, and he will be switching clubs at the end of the season.
Edinson Cavani to leave Man Utd after two seasons
The 35-year-old has been dealing with several injuries and fitness issues, which have prevented him from contributing to the team this season. This is a stark contrast from his performances in his first season at the club, after arriving from PSG for free.
Edinson Cavani was linked with a return to South America in the January transfer window. But, he decided to stay with Manchester United until the end of the season, and will be leaving as a free agent when his deal runs out.
Cavani will be joined by Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata through the exit door as well. Both the players have been left on the bench for extended periods of time this season. As a result, they will be leaving the club in search of better first team opportunities. Paul Pogba could also join the trio, if he accepts a proposal from a different club to move when his deal runs out.
