Edin Dzeko is all set to join Inter Milan from Roma according to Fabrizio Romano, who has given the deal is famous here we go signal.
According to the Italian journalist, Dzeko is in Milan to complete his medicals and will be announced as a new Inter player shortly. He has agreed a contract till June 2023, and will join the club for a nominal fee. Corriere dello Sport indicate that the capital club will only receive €1.5 million for the player if they qualify for the Champions League next year.
Should they not do so, they will not pay a single penny to Roma, and will have the Bosnian for free. Dzeko only had one year left on his contract with Roma, and should they not have sold him this summer, they would’ve had to let him go as a free agent in 2022. And at the age of 35, it would’ve been very difficult to gain a decent transfer fee for him.
Dzeko has played 260 games for Roma across all competitions and has scored for them 119 times, providing 55 assists. He has become a fan favourite since arriving at the club on an initial loan deal from Manchester City in 2015. The transfer was made permanent in 2016 and he has featured for the club ever since.
But now, with Romelu Lukaku joining Chelsea, Inter have found their replacement for the Belgian in Dzeko. Roma are in talks with Chelsea to sign Tammy Abraham as the heir to Dzeko’s striking role, and will have to pay a fee in the region of €40 million to the London club for their academy graduate.
