Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah will be continuing with the club beyond this summer. His current contract runs out in a month, but he will be renewing his deal so that he can stay with the first team.

The 22-year-old attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, with several Bundesliga and Premier League sides wanting to sign him. But, he has decided to turn all of them down in favour of a new contract with his boyhood club.

The youngster has had limited chances under Mikel Arteta this season. But, his new deal will probably have an increased impact on his importance in the first team. Despite his renewal, Arsenal will be likely to sign a new first-team striker who they can rely on for scoring goals regularly.

His presence as a backup option would allow him to develop for the coming years as well. In 21/22, he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, and has shown signs of being able to deliver when the team needs him.

Eddie Nketiah is an England U21 international, and has scored 16 goals in 17 appearances. Gabriel Jesus is the most likely option to be the first choice striker, with Arsenal currently in talks with Manchester City about the Brazilian. A fee worth €50 million is being discussed for the player, with a final agreement yet to be reached.
