Bright Enobakhare is expected to be the latest recruit by SC East Bengal. The 22-year-old has reportedly finalised all of his formalities and is expected in the country over the next few days. He is supposed to help the newly introduced club out with their problems upfront.
East Bengal are yet to score a single goal in ISL and have gone four matches without scoring a single goal. They currently sit last in the table and have only managed to get one point so far, in their 0-0 draw against Jamshedpur FC in their most recent fixture, which was also their first and only clean sheet this season.
Enobakhare was part of the Wolves academy as a youngster and was sent out on multiple loan spells after being eligible to join the first team. He has spent time on loan at Kilmarnock FC in Scotland, Wigan Athletic and Coventry.
His contract with the midlands club expired in the summer this year, and the Nigerian joined AEK Athens in August. He was then released in October and has since been without a club. However, that won’t be the case for too long for the youngster.
His age will give him a great advantage, as will his pace. East Bengal have managed to get the ball forward on multiple occasions, but are missing the killer instinct to finish off their chances to win games in the league.
It is well worth considering that Robbie Fowler only had a month to put the newly recruited squad together. The addition of a young centre-forward could be exactly what the club need to help themselves out of their goalscoring slump.
However, Enobakhare should be given a little bit of time to adapt, and the presence of Jeje Lalpekhlua and Balwant Singh should help the youngster learn from experienced veterans in the club.
