Some victories are just about three points. This one was about closing a chapter left open since 2013. East Bengal FC produced a stunning extra-time comeback to beat Kuwait’s Al-Arabi SC 4-1, booking their place in the AFC Champions League Two group stage while sending their opponents crashing down to the Challenge League.

## A Comeback for the Ages

Trailing 1-0 deep into stoppage time, East Bengal looked destined for elimination. Instead, they found a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser to force extra time, then produced a ruthless burst of three goals in the additional 30 minutes to seal a stunning 4-1 win at their home fortress in Kolkata.

## A Story 12 Years in the Making

The victory carries deep symbolic weight for East Bengal’s faithful. Back in 2013, the club’s remarkable AFC Cup run — a run that included a nine-match unbeaten streak — ended heartbreakingly in the semi-finals against Kuwait SC, another Kuwaiti side. Beating Al-Arabi now closes that painful chapter with a fitting sense of redemption for a fanbase that has waited over a decade for this moment.

## Why It Matters

East Bengal now advance to Asian club football’s group stage for the first time in years, a genuine reward for their continental ambitions after a strong domestic season.
