Dusan Vlahovic is the next star to come out of Serie A, scoring 20 goals in 21 games for Fiorentina in 2021. In the 20/21 season, the youngster finished the Serie A campaign with 21 goals and has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe.

According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid were interested in signing the player. The La Liga champions offered Fiorentina €60 million, along with a sell-on clause. However, the player and his agent rejected both offers in favour of a stay at the Serie A club.

“We always believed in this team, from the moment we started working with the coach. We are just at the beginning, we must keep working hard, listening to the boss, being a team and then we can do great things,” the 21-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

Fiorentina coach Vicenzo Italiano is one of the main reasons that Vlahovic decided to continue his stay at Fiorentina, and he is set to be the star of an ambitious project.

“I said many times that I decided to stay in Florence, nobody else had to decide for me. When the coach arrived, and the squad we put together, it’s good. At the end of the season, we will see if it proved to be the right decision, but I followed my heart.

“I am young, my moment will come and I just need to continue working like this.”

The striker’s current deal runs until 2023, and talks for a new deal are now up and running. The new contract is expected to have a release clause as well, and all parties are confident that they will reach an agreement in due course.
