The upcoming Max prequel series, “Dune: Prophecy,” has exclusively secured the renowned Indian actress Tabu for a recurring role, according to Variety.
Tabu is widely acclaimed as one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema history, having also earned the prestigious National Film Award.
Tabu Joins “Dune: Prophecy” in Recurring Role
Originally titled “Dune: The Sisterhood” when commissioned in 2019, the series draws inspiration from the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” penned by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Positioned in the vast universe of ‘Dune’ by Frank Herbert, the series unfolds 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’s reign, focusing on two Harkonnen sisters navigating existential threats to humanity while laying the groundwork for the renowned Bene Gesserit sect.
The official logline states, “Set within the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”
Despite lacking a confirmed premiere date, the series recently secured the esteemed Indian actress Tabu for the recurring role of Sister Francesca. Described as resilient, intelligent, and captivating, Sister Francesca’s return to the palace disrupts the established power dynamics, stirring intrigue and tension.
The character is described as “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.”
