If you loved *Dude* and have been quietly hoping for more of that chaotic, emotionally-charged universe — well, director Keerthiswaran just heard your prayers. The filmmaker has not only teased a sequel to Pradeep Ranganathan’s Diwali blockbuster but also dropped a major hint about his next project with none other than [Silambarasan TR](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silambarasan). Two announcements in one event? Tamil cinema really is giving us everything right now.

## So, Is *Dude 2* Actually Happening?

At a recent Behindwoods event, director Keerthiswaran kept it refreshingly candid. He confirmed having pitched an idea to Pradeep Ranganathan for *Dude 2*, one that carries the spirit of the original, and said that if it works out, it will either be a sequel or a continuation of the film.

That’s not a “no” — and that’s all fans needed to hear. For those who missed the original, *Dude* follows the story of cousins Agan and Kural, who launch a new event-planning venture together, only for the relationship to get complicated when one of them proposes marriage, and an accidental pregnancy leads to a series of chaotic events. The film received mixed critical reviews but was a clear box office winner.

## The STR Tease That Has Everyone Talking

Here’s where it gets even more exciting. At the same event, Keerthiswaran hinted at his next project, saying he is working on a story with commercial elements, emotions, and much more — one that requires a star — and that he has such a star in mind with an announcement expected very soon.

While no name was officially confirmed, all signs point strongly to Silambarasan TR. Speculation suggests that STR may collaborate with Keerthiswaran on a new project after wrapping up *Arasan* with Vetrimaaran, given that STR51 with director Ashwath Marimuthu could potentially be delayed until 2027 due to the latter’s upcoming project with Rajinikanth.

A Keerthiswaran–STR collaboration would be a dream pairing, and Tamil fans are already counting down. Stay updated with the latest Tamil cinema news on [TechnoSports](https://technosports.co.in).

## Pradeep Ranganathan’s Next

Pradeep was last seen in *Love Insurance Kompany*, directed by Vignesh Shivan — a sci-fi romantic comedy set in the 2040s following two individuals whose relationship is disrupted by an app that predicts compatibility scores. With *Dude 2* potentially on the horizon, his slate is looking very exciting.
